Los Angeles Belly Dancer Sevdha

Sevdha's Story

Sevdha is a professional Bollywood and Belly Dance artist based in Los Angeles, California. Diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (High-Functioning Autism), Sevdha turned to music, art and dance to channel her wildly creative energies and help her overcome countless hurdles. She now tries to utlize her talents to spread awareness and connect with and help others others who face similar difficulties.

A fateful day occurred when Sevdha wandered into an event in which another attendee recognized her. The spectator relentlessly tried to persuade the event planners to allow Sevdha to perform and on-the-spot demonstration. Not expecting much from the soft-spoken, bespectacled young woman, they initially disagreed, stating that they did not wish to "lower the quality" of the event. As time went on, however, a no-show performer gave way for time, and it was then reluctantly agreed for Sevdha to participate. When Sevdha went on stage, it was said that a "completely different person exploded into being," to the shock of the audience, and the timid, unsuspecting young woman immediately transformed into a formidable, high-energy stage presence. Despite everyone's expectations, Sevdha stole the show. Her story of transformation has earned her the nickname "Rose" in some circles, stemming from the idea of the plain rosebud blossoming into the beautiful rose. Her story has since then gained much interest, even being selected to perform for the celebrity judges on America's Got Talent.
